A Service of Witness to the Resurrection was held at 2:00 PM, Monday, January 25th, 2010, at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 125 N. Wilkinson, Dayton, Ohio. The Rev. Kay Davis-Dudding officiated. Ann Matthews, 86, of Dayton, Ohio, and formerly of Amarillo, Texas, died peacefully January 21, 2010. She was born July 29, 1923, to Tate Benton Collins and Annie Lou (Eades) Collins, and was raised in Kuttawa, Kentucky. She attended the University of Kentucky where she was a member of the Alpha Gamma Delta sorority, and subsequently worked for Eastern Airlines, prior to marrying Jim on April 5, 1948. They lived in Indianapolis, Bloomington and Terre Haute, Indiana prior to moving to Amarillo, Texas in 1964. After living in Amarillo for 45 years, they moved to Dayton, Ohio in March 2009. Her greatest love and joy was being with family. She is preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Tate Benton Collins, Jr. Survivors include her husband of 62 years, James West (Jim) Matthews, and her children Robert Haines Matthews and wife, Janice of Dayton, Ohio, and Karen Ann Provence and husband, William of Mesquite, Texas. She was the loving grandmother of Amy Lynn Goodreau and husband, Robert, Sarah Ann Seitz and husband, Michael, Matthew Sean Provence, and Catherine Corinne Provence and the great-grandmother of Alexander Michael Seitz and Elizabeth Kay Seitz.
