Ellen Veazey Brown

June 25, 1917 — August 5, 2009

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, August 7 at Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church, 316 Valley Avenue, Amarillo. Rev. Nancy Moore, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be held at Llano Cemetery. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 South Georgia.
Mrs. Brown was born to Neely and Irene Veazey in Goldston, Texas on June 25, 1917. She married C. F. Brown in Clarendon on February 26, 1938. They moved to Amarillo in 1942. They were married for 67 years. She was a housewife and a very devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She loved her family very much. Her grandson was the apple of her eye.
Mrs. Brown was a charter member of Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church. She taught the 3 year old Sunday School class for over thirty years. She loved her church very much. She was called Mom by many people, and she loved them all very much. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends and her loving church family.
Mrs. Brown loved to crochet for over 70 years, giving most of her creations to family and friends.
We want to say a very special “Thank You” to all of the BSA Hospice staff, especially to Henryka, Deeann and Marilyn, who took care of her these past five months at home. Thank you again, and God bless all of you.
She is preceded in death by her husband C. F. Brown in 2005, her parents, one sister Vivian Morrow and several nieces and nephews.
She is survived by two sons, Neely P. Brown and Charles W. Brown and wife Charlene; one grandson Kyle W. Brown, all of Amarillo; one step-granddaughter Jacqueline Marler of Australia; two sisters, Louise Mott and husband Jim of Bowie, MD and Francis Browning and husband Dana of Jacksonville, AR, along with several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Thursday, August 6 from 6:00 to 9:00 PM.
The family suggests memorial contributions be sent to Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church, 316 Valley Avenue, Amarillo, Tx 79107.
