She was born June 14, 1923 to Lydia Adona and Kenneth Engle in Fort Towson, Oklahoma and was a 1940 graduate of Borger High School in Borger, Texas. Elnora was also a graduate of West Texas State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Education and minor in English.

Elnora married her husband of 70 years, Robert M. (Bob) Walker on December 13, 1941, in Borger, Texas where she enjoyed working at the Panhandle State Bank.

Elnora spent her life serving the Lord and others. She was a dedicated and active mother of three, an accomplished farm wife, and spent many years working as secretary for First Baptist Church, Panhandle, in the Chaplain’s office at the Amarillo Air Force Base, in banking at First National Bank, Panhandle and Amarillo National Bank, as well as having been Office Manager at the American Cancer Society office in Amarillo later in life. She was an active member of the Ruth Class at First Baptist Church, Amarillo. She hailed from a family line that traces its roots to one of the 17 barons who established the Magna Carta, and took pride in being a member of the National Society of Magna Charta Dames & Barons and enjoyed writing newsletters for the local Amarillo Chapter and for her Sunday School class well into her 80’s.

She is survived by her son, Milton Walker of Pearland, Texas, and her two daughters, Shirley Walker Hunt of Ardmore, Oklahoma and Deborah Walker (Vassilev) of Austin, Texas and one sister, Mary Greer of Midland, Texas, along with seven grandchildren, Robert Vassilev, Laura Vassilev, Clint Walker, Sarah Sturm, Ethan House, Angela Apel, Erin Schaefer, and five great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Adona McClane, her father, Kenneth Engle, step-father, Fletcher McClane, her husband, Bob, and a sister, Helen Obrecht.
