Emily Virginia Jones, 95, of Amarillo died June 10, 2014.
Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, June 17, 2014 in the Brentwood Chapel of Schooler Funeral Home. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 South Georgia.
Emily was born September 7, 1918 in Hale Center, Texas to Rude A. Smith and Alma Fox Smith.
She graduated from Amarillo High School in 1936 and married Forrest W. Jones in 1938in Amarillo. In May they celebrated 76 years of marriage. They were charter members of St. Paul United Methodist Church. Since then, Emily has been a member of Polk Street United Methodist Church for more than 50 years. She was a stay-at-home mom and a wonderful quilter winning many blue ribbons at the fair.
Emily was preceded in death by her sister Edith Fields.
She is survived by her husband Forrest W Jones, Sr of Amarillo; daughters Margaret Nelson and husband Tom and Carolyn Jones both of Amarillo; sons Forrest W Jones Jr and wife Lynda of Amarillo and Alan Jones and wife Vicki of Port Isabel; one sister Beth Newton of Merced CA; six grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
The family suggests memorials be made to Meals On Wheels, 219 SW 7th Ave, Amarillo TX 79101 or BSA Hospice, PO Box 950, Amarillo TX 79105.
