Ernest Roberts, 94, of Amarillo passed peacefully in his home on March 3, 2022.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 6, 2022 for visitation from 3pm to 5pm at Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia. Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 7, 2022 at 2pm in the Memory Gardens Cemetery Mausoleum Chapel, 14200 Interstate 27 South.
Ernest was born July 16, 1927 in Rush Springs, Oklahoma to Benjamin Franklin and Myrtle Annie (Ray) Roberts. In June of 1950 in Clovis, New Mexico, Ernest married his beloved Martha Sue. He served as a Laundry Maintenance Engineer in Hereford, Texas and then transferred to Amarillo Linen until his retirement.
Ernest was always smiling, and found great pleasure in sunshine and warm weather. In his spare time, Ernest greatly enjoyed helping out the Boy Scouts troops in the local area and the Kwahadi Museum of the American Indian.
Ernest is preceded in death by his parents, wife Martha Sue, two sisters, and three brothers. Those left to cherish his memories are his daughters Jane Roberts and fiancé Cliff Sandefer of Amarillo, Mary Ann Kent and husband Tyler of Broken Arrow, OK, and Helen Marie Bobbett and husband John of San Antonio, TX, sons Terry Roberts and wife Resa of Catasauqua, PA, and Tommy Roberts and wife Robin of Hereford, TX. Ernest also leaves behind seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation in honor of Ernest Roberts be made to the Kwahadi Museum of the American Indian, 9151 Interstate 40, Amarillo, TX 79118.
