Ernestina "Tina" Renteria

Ernestina “Tina” Renteria, 74, of Amarillo passed away on November 23, 2022 surrounded by her adoring family.

Rosary will be said at Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia on Saturday, November 26, 2022 at 4:30pm. Funeral mass will be celebrated at 10am on Monday, November 28, 2022 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 4118 S. Bonham in Amarillo. Interment will follow in Llano Cemetery East. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home.

Tina was born May 8, 1948 in Amarillo, TX to Ernesto Vigil and Ceverina Ortega. She graduated from Caprock High School in 1966. Tina married Albert Renteria on July 22, 1967. Together, they were blessed with 3 loving daughters. Tina was a Head Service Representative for Southwestern Bell/AT&T for 43 years. She was a member of The Communication Workers of America Local 6128 and Telephone Pioneers for many years. Upon her retirement, she and Albert enjoyed travelling the world. Many fond memories were made of the places they visited and the new friends they made. Tina loved to garden and had a green thumb. She was very proud of everything she grew and enjoyed her time outdoors.

Tina is preceded in death by her parents; sister, Carmela Cunningham; 3 brothers, Bobby Vigil, Ruben Vigil, and Orlando Vigil.

She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Albert Renteria; daughters, Diana Saldivar and husband, Charlie, Michelle Dominguez and husband, Daniel, and Trina Hernandez and husband, Chris all of Amarillo; 8 grandchildren, Leah, Nicholas, Andrew, Vanessa, Jacob, Manuel, Eric, and Mason; 21 great-grandchildren; and a host of other loving family members and friends.

The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the wonderful staffs of BSA Hospice Care of the Southwest and Advanced Vital Care for the wonderful care they provided to our beloved mother. This same gratitude is also extended to Doctors Holland and Arsenault and their amazing staffs for the care they provided as well.

The family suggests memorials be made to American Cancer Society.
