Esther Loraine Bakken Norstedt passed away peacefully on February 9th, 2016, in Amarillo
with daughter ViAnn by her side.
A Viewing will be held on Friday, February 19th at Springan Funeral Home in Stanley, ND from 10 Am until 5 PM. Funeral service will be held Saturday, February 20 at 11:00 AM at the First Lutheran Church in Tioga, ND. Local Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home.
Esther was born March 7th, 1939 in Tioga, North Dakota, to Hilma and Henry Bakken.
Esther married Franklin Duane Norstedt on June 17, 1956 at the Lutheran Church
in Tioga. Esther and Frank lived in Tioga until the spring of 1964, when they ventured west to
Shelby, Montana, following the missile site jobs.
In January of 1965 they moved to Libby, Montana. While Frank worked at the Libby Dam, Esther planted gardens, canned vegetables and was a stay at home mom.
In 1973 the family moved to Clarkston, Washington. The family enjoyed campouts,
fishing and going to jr. and high school rodeos. Esther loved to yard sale, she also
enjoyed collecting mickey mouse’s, along with years of collecting ink pens from around the
world.
She was a member of the Clarkston Eagles and Moose Lodge. In November of 2010 Esther moved to Farwell, Texas.
The family is content knowing she is at peace with her heavenly Father.
She was preceded in death by her parents; grandparents; her husband Frank; infant
daughter Rita Rae; brother Harold Bakken and wife Helen; brother DeRay Bakken; sister Marion Davidson; and brother -in-law Roy Anderson.
Esther is survived by son Rodney (wife Jeannie) of Connell, Washington; daughter
ViAnn (husband Bob Arnold) of Farwell, Texas; sisters Ina (Rich Cash) Amarillo, Texas;
Evelyn (Merle Kjosen) of Minot, North Dakota; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Esther was loved by all family and friends that knew her.
