Esther "Pat" Lowene Teel

Esther Lowene “Pat” Teel age 97 of Amarillo, died Friday, January 7, 2011.Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, January 11, 2011, at the Craig Methodist Retirement Center Chapel, 5500 West 9th Avenue, with her grandson, Rev. Steven Teel, officiating.  Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St.Mrs. Teel was born April 27, 1913 to Fred and Luella Rice in Audubon, Iowa. The family moved to Muleshoe, Texas when she was a child, and as a young lady she was named Miss Muleshoe High School, and the Homecoming Queen of 1930.She received her associate degree in Business and met her future husband at John Brown Academy in Siloam Springs, Arkansas. They were married in 1934.In 1936 the Teels moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma where they raised their two sons and she began a career with Deep Rock Oil Company. When Deep Rock merged with Kerr McGee Oil she relocated to Oklahoma City and rose to the position of Supervisor of the Order Department in the general sales office.After retiring from Kerr McGee, Mrs. Teel enjoyed many years as a volunteer at Integris Baptist Medical Center in Oklahoma City and both Teels traveled to every state but Alaska with their travel club friends. They were fans of the Oklahoma University Sooners and were active in their churches.  They both became members of St. Stephen United Methodist Church after moving to Amarillo to reside in the Craig when it opened in 1997.  When Mrs. Teel found attending church more difficult, Nellie Martin and Bill Reeves brought the church to her through calls, visits, gifts, and friendship.She was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Herman Teel in 2002; her two brothers and sister.Survivors include her sons and their spouses, Richard and Alice of Georgetown, Texas; Ken and Barbara of Amarillo; four grandchildren and spouses Kathy Langford and Rob, Andy Teel and Laura, Steve Teel and Kris, and Tracy Schaller and Mark.  She was adored by her 15 great-grandchildren Andrew, Mark. and Stephen Langford; Drew and Ellie Teel; Samantha, Jessica, and David Teel; and Alex, Anderson, Ashley. Alicia, Avery, Alayna, and Alyana Schaller.Memorials may be given to her grandson’s ministry, Very Bold Ministries, 15919 Watering Point Drive, San Antonio, Texas 78247.
