Eustacio "Scott" Casarez

March 29, 1947 — May 14, 2020

Eustacio “Scott” Casarez passed away with his family by his side on May 14, 2020.

Eustacio was born March 29, 1947 in Ballinger, TX to Julia Quirino and Ramon M. Casarez.  He was known by many different names to many people over his life time – probably due to the fact that people could not pronounce is first name but Hun, Pop, Welo, Tacho, Scottie and Scott as he was known to all who loved and met him lived a wonderfully unapologetic life.  Blessed with a great sense of humor and always wanting to laugh he was quick with a comeback, sarcastic remark or joke.  Scott was a caring, loving and hard working man but he would be the first to tell you he was not perfect and would not want to be remembered as such.  He was proud of his sobriety and that he had battled his own personal demons (the beer aka big sodas) over 25 years ago.  His honesty and tell-it-like-it-is attitude may have occasionally ruffled some feathers but you always walked off with a smile because his words were not mean or hateful.

Scott was in the job corps in his youth and completed an electrician program from Princeton University (yes that Princeton) and he believed in learning and education both in the classroom and from life.  He held various degrees and certifications from aircraft maintenance, electricity and electronics to computer programming.  He met the love of his life and the woman he would later introduce to everyone as the half that made him whole or “My better half” Eva (formerly Escamilla) in the checkout line of a Safeway while purchasing some Juicy Fruit gum over 53 years ago in Hereford, TX.  Anyone who knows the story of the first meal she cooked for him knows it must have been love because her cooking skills should have done in a long time ago,  the man had a stomach of steel.  They found a strength and unbelievable love that bound them together – they had a balance.  He was honest in his carefree approach to life and had a love for music, good food and noticing the beauty in nature, people and the world around him.  He passed his love for music onto his children and granddaughter.  He enjoyed going “double down” and “let it roll” with his wife and they would always take the long route over dusty roads rather than road more traveled to talk, laugh and argue.  Most recently the pair had become fans of Asian soap operas and his laughter in the home will be missed.  He had been working for the past 25 years as a scale technician for maintenance at Tyson Foods and had been home since May 1st with family.  He loved his family with all of his being and was proud so very proud of his DJ, Rhaine, Libby, Michelle and Brian. Eva says thank you Hun for all of the years of love and devotion for providing and being her MAN.

Survivors include the love of his life his wife Eva Casarez of Amarillo, daughter Dawn Michelle Casarez and her everything Brian Michalak of Amarillo, son D.J. and wife Elizabeth “Libby” Casarez of Albuquerque, his pride and joy granddaughter Santana Rhaine Casarez-Davis of San Angelo, his brother Raymond Casarez Jr. of Hereford and a huge amazing lot of beautiful family members and friends.

A celebration of his life will be held at a later date when family and friends can gather safely ~ The Thrill Is Gone.
