Eva M. Belcher, of Amarillo, passed away March 31, 2022, at the age of 98. Surrounded by the love of her family, she peacefully entered the Gates of Heaven.
Eva was born November 11, 1923 in Clarksville, Texas. During WWII she was one of the original ‘Rosie the Riveters”working across the country making airplane parts in California and ammunition in Texarkana. She married Charles Patrick “Red” Belcher on January 26, 1952 and they made their home in Amarillo where they raised their three daughters. Eva was a dedicated volunteer for Meals on Wheels for over ten years and was a long time member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church.
Eva was a loving and supportive mother, grandmother, and great grandmother to five generations. She shared her passion for watching baseball and supporting WT sports with her friends and family. She especially enjoyed traveling to watch any sport that her grandchildren and great grandchildren were involved in. She was their number one fan. Eva loved to bake for her family and would often prepare favorite dishes, pies, or banana pudding especially for each family member.
Eva was preceded in death by her parents, Flem and Lillie Medley; her husband Charles Patrick “Red” Belcher; her sister Era Burgess; and by two son-in laws, Ricky Thomason and Steve Branch.
She is survived by her daughters, Donna Hamann and her husband Randy, Patrice Branch, and Cindy Osteen and her husband Terry; six grandchildren, Robert Thomason and his wife Chrisy, Dr. Lisa O’Brien and her husband Scott Nelson, Christy Weiss and her husband Jeff, Kendra Guerry and her husband Scott, Katie Kirkpatrick and her husband Brian and Nick Osteen and his wife Bonnie; thirteen great grandchildren, Amber Viner and husband Chayson, Bailer Thomason and wife Carissa, Nick Nelson, Pate Weiss, Eva Weiss, Samantha Griffith and husband Justin, Jimmy Guerry, Tegan Guerry, Jasper Kirkpatrick, Ellery Kirkpatrick, Trinity Osteen, Lexi Osteen and Malachi Osteen; three great-great grandchildren, Piper Griffith, Killian Griffith and Daysen Viner; a sister, Sue Carthel; and many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive guests from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Monday evening, April 4, 2022 at Schooler Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, April 5, 2022 at Llano Cemetery. Rev. John Valdez of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church will officiate. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 South Georgia.
