Eva L. Pierce

Eva Loraine Pierce passed away quietly on Saturday, January 7, 2012.

Memorial Mass will be held at 2 p.m Monday, January 9, 2012 at St. Hyacinth's Catholic Church with Msgr. Joseph Tash officiating. Interment will be in Llano Cemetery. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home 4100 South Georgia.

Known to many as “Pib”, Mrs. Pierce was born in Welch, Oklahoma in June, 1923 and moved to Amarillo in 1954. Mrs. Pierce married John Anthony Pierce in 1944 in Miami, Oklahoma. She was a homemaker her entire life and was well known for her spectacular cooking and artistry skills. Over the years, she completed hundreds of paintings which will live on as her legacy. She and her husband John were charter members of St. Hyacinth's Catholic Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John A. Pierce of Amarillo, brothers Parker Winton of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Thomas (Alec) Winton of Miami, Oklahoma, Ernest Winton of Amarillo and sister Thelma Litle of Vinita, Oklahoma.

Mrs. Pierce is from a large family; survivors include her daughter, Penny Teehee of Tres Ritos, New Mexico; her son, John S. Pierce of Denver, Colorado; her sisters Wanda Mason and Husband Don Mason of Amarillo and Gracie Charlesworth and husband Art of Overland Park, Kansas; her brothers Gene Winton and wife Dottie of Fairfax, Virginia and Marvin Winton and wife Norma of Amarillo; her granddaughter, Jenny Teehee of Durango, Colorado, and her grandson, Kenny Teehee of Amarillo.

Mrs. Pierce had 20 cherished nieces and nephews. She also had close relationships with many of her great-nieces and great-nephews, which added considerably to her enjoyment of life.

Thank you to Encompass Home Health for the services provided in Mrs. Pierce's home over the last five years; their nursing and tender care have been invaluable.
