Evelyn McCandless Novak

June 26, 1936 — November 2, 2015

Evelyn McCandless Novak, age 79 of Amarillo, died November 2, 2015.

Funeral services will be on Friday, November 6, 2015 at 10:00 AM at Trinity Baptist Church.  Rev. Nate Magloughlin will officiate.  Burial will be at Llano Cemetery.  Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 South Georgia.

Evelyn was born on June 24, 1936 in Ralls, Texas to Joe and Mildred McCandless. She married Frank N. Novak, Jr. on January 1, 1953 at Antioch Baptist Church with her grandfather officiating.  That was the beginning of a love affair that would last over 62 years.

Home was where Evelyn’s heart was.  She devoted her life to caring for her family and serving God.  She and Frank were members of Trinity Baptist Church. Evelyn was passionate about the Shut-In Ministry and served the church in many other capacities.  She had the ability to speak the truth in a loving manner and the ability to guide others in Christ’s wisdom.

Evelyn cherished relationships that extended beyond the traditional norm and felt blessed to be a part of the Young Family, the Walker Family and numerous nieces and nephews lives.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister and three brothers.

The family will receive guests at the funeral home Thursday, November 5, 2015 from 6 PM until 7PM.

Evelyn is survived by her husband Frank of Amarillo; her three sons, Michael F. Novak and his wife Ann of Fairview, Texas; Stephen W. Novak of Farmington, New Mexico; and Kenneth J. Novak and his wife Chris of Albuquerque, New Mexico; her daughter, Susan Scheffe and her husband Doug of Amarillo, Texas; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
