E.W. Bryan

E.W. Bryan, age 87 of Amarillo took his final ride to glory on October 12, 2022 in Amarillo.

The family will be gathering for a private memorial at a later date.

E.W was born on September 27, 1935, in Collingsworth County, Texas to his parents Roland and Veta Bryan.  He was raised in the small farming community of Samnorwood, Texas.  He graduated from high school and went on to attend Texas Tech University where he graduated with a degree in Agriculture.  At about this same time his entrepreneurial side emerged and he started his own businesses, Bryan Building Maintenance and later Amarillo Mop and Broom.

On June 21, 1979, he married Sue Ann Lancaster in Amarillo. Together they would operate his business, Amarillo Mop and Broom, until it was sold in 2020.

E.W. liked many things but what he was absolutely passionate about was his motorcycles. In his younger days, he raced them and as he got older he just rode them…. A lot.  He was a member of a Harley Davidson Motorcycle Club and traveled extensively.  He visited every single state except Hawaii, every province in Canada, and parts of Mexico on his bike.   He was never happier than when he was on his bike surrounded by his buddies.  On occasion, Sue would join him for a little road adventure as well and those times were cherished.  E.W. collected many photos, flags, and mementos from his trips and kept them displayed in his “Harley Room” to share with others.   He was also proud to be a 42 ^nd degree Mason.

He was preceded in death by his parents; by two brothers, Jay and Harold Bryan; and by a step-son, Denny Sharber.

E.W. is survived by his wife Sue Ann; his two daughters, Dr. Laveta Bryan and Kathie Vogelgesang all of Amarillo; by four grandchildren; and by four great-grandchildren.
