Fonda Fern Jarnevic 70 of Amarillo died Tuesday July19, 2011.

A Rosary will be said 6:30 PM Friday July 22, 2011 in Brentwood Chapel, Schooler Funeral Home.

Vigil Service will be at 7:00 PM Friday July 22, 2011 in Brentwood Chapel, Schooler Funeral Home.

Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday July 23, 2011 in St Mary’s Cathedral, with celebrant Msgr. Harold Waldow. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St.

Fonda was born in Arlington, Texas to Lois Dewit Neal and Eva Newt Thurmond Neal on December 8, 1940. She married Captain Frank I. Jarnevic on May 26, 1962 in Amarillo. She was a teacher for blind and visually impaired students at Amarillo Independent School District for 16 years and was a life member of Texas Teachers Association.  She volunteered at the V.A. Hospital and Saint Anthony’s Hospital. She was a long time member of St. Mary’s Cathedral and was an extra ordinary Communion Minister

Fonda was an avid painter and enjoyed gardening.  She was gifted with a beautiful voice and loved to sing at the noon mass each Sunday at St. Mary’s Cathedral.

Survivors include her husband of 49 years Col. Frank Jarnevic; a daughter, Kate Keadle  and husband Roy of Amarillo; a sister, Vicki Oliver and husband, Thomas of Mesquite Nevada; a niece, Seeley Oliver of New York, NY; a nephew, Thomas Oliver Jr. of Burlington; granddaughters, Sarah Noggler, and Ashley Wainright and husband Joe both of Amarillo; two great-grandchildren, Ayden and Jaslynne.
