Frances Dolly Baker, 85, of Amarillo died May 23, 2013.
No services are planned at this time. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 South Georgia.
To all who knew this wonderful lady, many of you will remember her in different ways such as an awesome cook, tough old ...coot, a mom away from mom, a protector, a realtor (she could sell ice to an eskimo), caring neighbor, a disc jockey for a radio station, a hay bailer (she bailed hay in her youth on a farm), tractor driver, a gardener, a speed reader (could read faster than anyone I have ever met), pragmatist, an independent, or a hell raiser. But we all will remember her in common as having a heart larger than....sorry, I can't seem to keep my eyes clear enough to type.... infinity; willing to share with adopted cadets, Boy Scouts, and neighborhood children, as well as to stand-up for those who were wronged by unclear politics. For 48 years she has been my staunchest adviser, disciplinarian, and close friend. I must now go on without her; to continue to live up to the high ideals to which she raised me. We have all lost a guiding light. There won't be a funeral service as she made me promise not to hold one. She died peacefully in her sleep and for that I will be forever relieved. To all of you that she impacted in life, I am pleased to have been associated with that; to my "MA" even though you have left me, a piece of you will always be with me to remind me of the special relationship we had together. R.I.P MA ....you have earned it.
Survivors include her son, Joseph Wicker and wife Bertha of El Paso, Step Brother Willis, a granddaughter Tanya, and a great niece, Loreanne.
In lieu of flowers, family suggests memorials be made to your charity.
