Francisco Garcia Mendez Jr.

Francisco Garcia Mendez Jr, age 78, entered his heavenly home on June 28, 2023.

A rosary service will be on Monday, July 3, at 6:00 PM at Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia.  The funeral mass will be Wednesday, July 5, 2023, at 10:00 AM at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 4100 South Coulter.

Francisco was born on August 17, 1944, in Pearsall, to his parents, Francisco and Maria Mendez Sr.  He married the beautiful Rosa Cristan in Littlefield on May 14, 1964.  That was the beginning of a life together that would span over the next sixty-five years.

Francisco was a hard-working farmer, selling the produce he raised.   He instilled work ethic and dedication in his children and grandchildren. Although he had many talents and hobbies, including playing various musical instruments, like the accordion, guitar, and harmonica, his true passion was for his family.  Nothing compared to the devotion he had for God and to his family.  Francisco taught his children and grandchildren the rosary and recited it often.  He set a beautiful example of what a husband and family man should be.  He will be forever missed by those who loved and knew him.

Francisco is preceded in death by his parents, Francisco Sr and Maria, and a sister Teresa Mendez.

He is survived by his wife Rosa Mendez; Six daughters, Lori Mendez, Diane Ortiz, Rose Ramirez, Gloria Mendez, Corey Mendez, Mary Ann Mendez; Three sons Frankie Mendez, Antonio Mendez, and Jesus Mendez; Four sisters, Susan Mendez, Mary Lou Mendez, Charlina Mendez, Patricia Mendez; six brothers, Modesto Mendez, Julian Mendez, Joe Mendez, Butch Mendez, Antonio Mendez, Michael Mendez; his grandchildren Oscar Lozano, Jessica Lozano, Mercedez Ramirez, Salvador Ramirez, Anthony Ramirez, Marisol Ortiz, Jasmine Ortiz, David Ortiz, Sylvia Ortiz, Prescilia Martinez, Gabriela Martinez, Gregorio Jr. Martinez, Gerardo Martinez, Alicia Reed, Ashley Reed, Elias Martinez, Esmeralda Martinez, Esperanza Martinez, Cassandra Martinez, Pedro Morales, Angelica Mendez, Isiah Morales, Gabriel Mendez, Rosario Mendez, Josiah Mendez, Marvin Cifuentes, Marcus Cifuentes, Serenity Mendez, Joseph Mendez, and Josiah Mendez; 31 great grandchildren Mia Martinez, Adalynn Gallegos, Fernando Gallegos Jr., Isabella Martinez, Aiden Martinez, Sofia Martinez, Evelyn Flores, Gerardo Martinez Jr., Johnathon Cavazos, Rayne Cisneros, Isabella Ramirez, Ariela Ramirez, Isahi Ramirez, Salvador Jr Ramirez, Yosselyn Lozano, Aiden Lozano, Angel Bastamian, Joaquin Ortiz, Anthony Ramirez Jr., Christian Macias, Aaron Nuño, Brandon Nuño, Ximela Nuño, Jayden Nuño , Ayden Ortiz, Iziah Ortiz, Meliah Ortiz, Davian Ortiz, Celine Ramirez, K’Mari Mendez, and  Nalaysia Mendez.
