Fred Walker, 68, of Amarillo died Tuesday, June 21, 2011.
Service will be at 3 p.m. Friday in Schooler Funeral Home Brentwood Chapel, 4100 S. Georgia St. A private family entombment will be in Memorial Park Mausoleum.
Fred was born Oct. 9, 1943, in Shamrock to Cash Edwin Walker and Eunice Marie Walker. During his career, Fred was the winner of countless awards and competitions in the beautician industry. He also owned and operated the Carousel Salon, the largest upscale salon of its kind between Dallas and Denver for many years before retiring. In retirement, he farmed and ranched outside of Clarendon.
Preceded in death by his brother, Eddie Walker in 2002.
Survivors include his wife of 37 years, Beverly Walker; four children, Len Walker and wife Tracy, James Walker and wife Laverne, Brent Gaither and Christy Ann Gaither, all of Amarillo; a brother, James Walker of Amarillo; and three grandchildren, Brittany Wilkins, James Carver Walker and Lenzy Walker.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be to Amarillo SPCA, P.O. Box 1014, Amarillo, TX 79105; or Amarillo Humane Society, 3501 S. Osage St., Amarillo, TX 79118-7700.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
