Garland Marion Walls JR

October 16, 1943 — August 15, 2016

G.M. Walls Jr, age 72 of Amarillo, died August 15, 2016 in Amarillo.

Memorial services are scheduled for 2:00 PM Friday at Trinity Fellowship Amarillo West Auditorium. John Curry of Pampa will officiate.  Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 South Georgia.

G.M. was born October 16, 1943 in Pampa to Garland M. and Frances Ruth Walls Sr.  He graduated from the Oklahoma Military Academy in 1962 and from West Texas State University in 1970. From early childhood he and his brother, Wilbur, helped their father on the family farm.  He worked in farming and ranching until 1981 when he became an operator in the oil and gas industry.

On July 3, 1991 G.M. married Dianna Forbes.  G.M. cherished Dianna.  She and each of the children were the light of his life. He was a devoted husband and delighted in the times spent together.

Although G.M. was passionate about his family he also had a fondness for guns and hunting.  He and his Wilbur, along with other family members and friends enjoyed hunting in Gray and Roberts Counties. Another one of interest was pawn shops, often he could be found rummaging around in one.
G.M. was a member of the St. Matthews Episcopal Church in Pampa.

He was preceded in death by his parents and by one brother, Stephen R. Walls.

He is survived by his wife, Dianna; his daughter Andrea Morris and her husband Justin of Amarillo; his two sons, Garland Trey Walls III and his wife Brandy of Pampa and David Philips and his fiancé Hollie Braddock of Amarillo; his brother C. Wilbur Walls and his wife Judy of Amarillo; three grandchildren, Graham and Jeremy Morris, and Samuel Garland Walls IV; his nieces and nephews, Autumn Smith and her husband J.T., Alicia Raffkind and her husband George and Jordan Walls; and his great nieces and nephews Ian, Madeleine, Cooper, and Grace Smith.

The family would like to give a very special thanks to Renee Waddell, Karime Guerra, Glenda Shelley, Brenda and Dick Wilkerson, and Cara and Robert Morris for the compassionate care that G.M. received.

The family suggests memorials be made to Crown of Texas Hospice Foundation for BSA Hospice of the Southwest, #3 Care Circle, Amarillo, Texas 79124.
