Gary J Gabel, 61, of Amarillo died Monday, September 5, 2011. Prayer Service will be 6:30 PM, Wednesday, September 7, 2011 at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church and Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 AM, Thursday, September 8, 2011 at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church with Msgr. Joseph Tash as celebrant and Rev. Ken Keller as con-celebrant. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 South Georgia.
Gary was born May 29, 1950 in Dalhart, Texas to John Leo Gabel and Marion Engelbrecht Gabel. He married Lou Liekhus November 30, 1974 in Amarillo. Gary loved watching NASCAR and working on cars. The family would like to extend their appreciation to BSA Hospital and BSA Hospice for their loving care during Gary’s last days.
Survivors include his wife Lou Gabel of the home, a son, James S. Gabel of Amarillo, one sister, Marcia Liekhus of Amarillo, five brothers, Dennis Gabel and wife Cindy, Kevin Gabel and wife Barbara, Mark Gabel and wife Bonnie, Mike Gabel and wife Serena, and Ken Gabel. His mother. Marion Gabel Prien and husband Ray, One Granddaughter, Kelsey Gabel, and a Grandson, Peyton Gabel.
