Gary J. Goodner, 71, of Amarillo, passed away February 19, 2016.

Memorial services will be 10:00 AM, on Tuesday, February 23, 2016 at Schooler Funeral Home, Brentwood Chapel with Chaplain Sherman Eastland officiating.  Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia Amarillo, Texas 79110.

Mr. Goodner was born on October 22, 1944 in Oskaloosa, Iowa to Lloyd and Clara Goodner. His family moved to Amarillo in 1960 and he graduated from Amarillo High in 1962.  While living here and in Oklahoma he worked for the Santa Fe Railroad and retired from the company in 1984.  He then went to work for his Dad at Goodner Livestock in Texoma.  He began driving a truck in 1988 and enjoyed that until retiring in 2010.   His family was everything to him and he made sure everyone got together at least once a year.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his step-mother, Charlotte Goodner.

Mr. Goodner is survived by a son, Gary Goodner and wife, Kelly of Amarillo; two daughters, Katrina Short and husband, Steve of Amarillo and Kimberly Gather and husband, Jim of Mangum, OK; two brothers, Jeff Brown and wife, Martha of Albuquerque and Chuck Goodner of Norman, OK; his grandchildren, Ashlyn Goodner and Thomas Cameron, Brooklyn and Jake Morris, Codi Goodner, Charlotte Short , Clara Short, Colby Hamlett, Kaylee Hamlett, A.J. Pineda, Ashleigh Pineda, Aiden Gather, and Jacob Gather; one great grandchild, Malakye Goodner Cameron; a sister, Jane Weaver of Amarillo; an uncle, Monte Stiles of Taos; a neice, Debra Goodlett and husband, Mark of Lantana ; and a nephew, Jimmy Weaver and wife, Jennifer of Amarillo.

The family suggests memorials be made to Randall County Sheriff’s Office Employee Assistance Fund 9100 S. Georgia Amarillo, Texas 79118 or charity of your choice
