Gary Don Perryman

April 24, 1945 — January 29, 2012

Gary Don Perryman went to be with the Lord on January 29, 2012.  Memorial services will be held 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, February 14, 2012 at Cornerstone Baptist Church, 4400 Crocket Street with Pastor Randy Srader officiating.  Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 South Georgia.

Gary was born on April 24, 1945 to Gordon and Jesse Perryman in Amarillo.  After graduating from Palo Duro High School in 1963, he attended West Texas State University where he was drafted into the Army and stationed in Germany.  On January 14, 1969, Gary married Toni Winningham.

In 1961 at the age of 16, Gary began working for Santa Fe Railroad until 1973 when he went into ministry full time.  He was a youth pastor at Hallmark Baptist Church in Fort Worth and Pikes Peak Baptist Church in Colorado Springs.  Gary returned to Amarillo as the assistant pastor at Southwest Baptist Church for 12 years.  He was involved in Bill Glass Prison Ministries with Southwest Baptist Church, as well as mission trips to Brazil with Paramount Baptist Church.  He was an instructor for Evangelism Explosion with Metropolitan Baptist Church in Cypress, Texas.  Mr. Perryman also worked for the VA Hospital for four years until his stroke in 1996.  Gary was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.  He will be greatly missed by all his loved ones.

He was preceded in death by his parents Gordon and Jesse Perryman, and his brother, Joe Perryman.

He is survived by his wife Toni; daughters, Traci Gibson and husband, Kyle of Clovis, New Mexico and Tiffany Lee and husband, Tommy of Amarillo; his son, Trent Perryman of Amarillo; a sister, Jan Payne of Amarillo; grandchildren Tuesday and Heather Perryman, Chris and Lauren Gibson, Chase and Kenzie Lee; great grandson, Gage Ryder.
