Master Sergeant Gary D. Roberson is the Non-Commissioned Officer in Charge of the 2nd Command and Control Squadron Systems Control Facility.
Sergeant Roberson was born in Elk City, Oklahoma in June 1949 and graduated from Stratford High School in 1968. He graduated from Amarillo College of Vocational Art in 1970.
He enlisted in the United States Air Force on August 20, 1975 and attended Basic Military Training at Lackland Air Force Base, Texas. His first assignment in the US Air force was Camp O’Donnel, Philippines. The site supported high frequency operations for the Pacific Strategic air to ground communications. Leaving the Philippines in November 1977, he was assigned to NORAD Operations in Colorado Springs, Colorado. In November, 1978 he was assigned to 4th ATAF NATO Operations at Kindsbach Cave Germany. In November, 1980, he was assigned to 3rd Combat Communications Group, Tinker AFB, Oklahoma City. Next, he was assigned to Rhien Man AB, Germany in 1983 as the NCOIC of system control supporting the 1945th Group. In February 1987 he became a member of an elite unit assigned to Readiness Command (Joint Communications Support Element, JCSE) at Macdill AFB in Tampa, FL, where during his involvement in DESERT SHIELD and subsequently DESERT STORM was AWARDED the BRONZE STAR and DEFENSE MERITORIOUS SERVICE MEDAL. In November, 1992, Mr. Roberson was assigned to 73rd Space Surveillance Group, and subsequently the 2nd Command and Control Squadron Falcon AFB, Colorado.
Sergeant Roberson was married to Peggy Lee from Lawton, Oklahoma for 33 years. They returned to Oklahoma to start another career. They resided in Oklahoma where he worked for World Com before moving to Amarillo in 2008. He worked for Durham until his death.

SURVIVORS – his mother, Luzelle Lowe; Sisters, Kaye Gunkel and husband, Dennis; Gaye McKinney; and Melody French and husband, Gary; Brother, Rodney Roberson; Step-Son, Tommy Ransom; Step-Grandchildren, Gary Ransom, Timothy Ransom and Sylvia Ransom; a niece and nephew; and his loving dog, Cassidy Anne.
