Gene Koetting, age 77, of Adrian, died Sunday, July 19, 2015.
Rosary will be at 7:00 p.m., today at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Vega. Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 a.m., on Wednesday, July 22, 2015 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Vega. Burial will be in Vega Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 South Georgia.
Gene was born in Groom on June 28, 1938 to Henry and Sybilla Koetting. He married Peggy Alford Noggler on December 17, 1976; she preceded him in death in 1982. Gene married Juanita Bean Phillips on December 5, 1987; she preceded him in death in 2004.
He was active duty for the National Guard for six months, on reserve duty for two and half years, and in the reserves for 3 years. Gene was a farmer and rancher in the Simms area since 1965; he knew every cow. He enjoyed fishing, carpentry, and woodworking and was a great cook because it was made right!
Gene would say “You are both a scholar and a gentleman and there are darn few of us left!”
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Dennis Noggler; a daughter, Beverly Larson; and two brothers, Marvin Koetting and James Koetting.
He is survived by his four daughters, Margaret Noggler Chopel and husband John of San Ramon, CA., Lisa Phillips Albiar and husband Michael of Maple Valley, WA., Theresa Noggler Fangman and husband Gary of Hereford, and Dallas Phillips Paetzold and husband Carl of Amarillo; two sons, John Noggler and wife Jean of Adrian, and Donald Noggler and wife Charla of Brownfield; daughter-in-law, Jeanie Acker Noggler of Hereford; son-in-law Jim Larson of Wichita Falls; a sister, Caroline Longest of Amarillo, three brothers, Leonard Koetting of Groom, Herman Koetting of Panhandle, and John Koetting of Groom and twenty grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren.
