Memorial service will be at 11:00 a.m., Monday March 21, 2022 at Lake Tanglewood Community Church. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home 4100 S. Georgia St.
George was born November 10, 1951 in Presque Isle, Maine to Alton and Mary Schrandt. He lived all over the United States and Madrid, Spain prior to attending and graduating from Oceanside High School, Oceanside California in 1970. He also attended and graduated from West Texas State University and was a member of The Kappa Alpha Order. George married Victoria Pruitt on February 6, 1976 and began making many decades of treasured memories. He lived at Lake Tanglewood with Vicki since 1981 and was active in the lake community. He served on the Lake Tanglewood Church Board as well as lead singing. He served many years as a volunteer fireman and spent countless hours making the new 9 hole golf course an 18 hole reality.
George was a traveling salesman with Pruitt Supply Company and its successors, for many years before owning and operating Amarillo Electric Service and Osage Gas which was the card only “stand alone” gas station at the corner of Osage and the Loop.
George and Vicki loved their feline family and considered the cats as their own kids. George and Vicki enjoyed traveling to many places including Spain, Brazil and many island destinations. George was an avid golfer, loved to bird hunt, and go bay fishing in Port Aransas where he and Vicki owned a beach rental house where they enjoyed and spent most Thanksgivings with their family. He was the ultimate caretaker and friend and celebrated life to the fullest and his stories and presence will be missed by many. So will his sandwiches.
George is preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Wayne Alton Schrandt and a nephew, Nathan Wayne Schrandt.
He is survived by his wife, Vicki of over 46 years of the home, nieces and nephews Aaron Schrandt and wife, Kaylynn of Buda, Texas, Amber Schrandt of Austin, Texas, Nicholas Schrandt of Dallas, Texas, Steven Pruitt and wife, Jentry of Amarillo, Texas, and Lindsey Salazar and husband, Dan of Colorado Springs.
The family suggests memorials be made to MD Anderson Anaplastic Cancer Research or your local animal rescue/shelter.
