George “Russell” Miller, age 76 of Amarillo died September 14, 2015 in Amarillo.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 AM September 18, 2015 at Amarillo’s First Family Church, 6101 S Bell, with Elisha Demerson, David Hammonds and Pastor Susan Allen Ralston officiating. Interment will be at Memory Gardens Cemetery. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 South Georgia.
Russell was born to Ollie Gordon Miller and Hazel Marie England Miller on May 22, 1939 in Claremore, Oklahoma. He married Doris Hammonds of Vega on December 13, 1956.
Russell served eight years in the Army Reserves followed by a career in sales. He retired in 2005 after 31 years with the Gates Rubber Co.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers Gene E. and Tim R Miller, and a grandson, Robert Ramon.
He is survived by his wife of fifty eight years, Doris; his daughters, Cecilia Batchelor and her husband Lonnie of Amarillo, Yvonne Holt and her husband Tim of Arlington, Gwendolyn Chandler and her husband Darrell of Amarillo, and Valarie Ramos and her husband Brian of Austin; two sisters, Frances Schoggin of Little Rock and Ruth Busby and her husband
Minor of Arcadia, OK; a brother Joe Miller and his wife Linda of Ft. Worth; twelve grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; and many family members and friends.
The family suggest memorials be made to New Beginnings Gospel Center, 1400 W. 8th Ave, Amarillo, TX, 79101 or Hospice of the Southwest.
Visitation will be from 6:00-7:00 PM today at the funeral home.
