George Stidger, Jr., 91, of Amarillo died February 17, 2016.
Private graveside inurnment services will be at Llano Cemetery with A.J. Neely officiating. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St.
George was born on April 29, 1924 in Amarillo to George and Cora Stidger. He served in the US Army Air Corp during WWII and was stationed in the Philippines and Guam. George Married Eileen White in 1950, she preceded in him in death in 1986. He then married Mary Powers May 1, 1987 in Amarillo. George worked for Navajo Freight Lines for 28 years, making his way up to Vice President of the Western region. He lived in Dumas for a while where he was part owner of Bamco of Dumas until he retired.
The family will receive guests at the funeral home Sunday afternoon from 2 p.m. until 4p.m.
George was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Eileen White Stidger; his brother, Oscar Stidger; and his granddaughter, Jessica Stidger.
Survivors include his wife, Mary; his son, Andrew Stidger, of Dumas; his daughter, Cindy Horton and husband, Tom of Amarillo; his grandchildren, Brandon, Jacob and A.J. Neely, Heather and Richard Barbante, Melissa, and Andrea Stidger; and 15 great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials to the Ussery-Roan Texas State Veterans Home, 1020 Tascosa Rd, Amarillo, TX 79124
