Mrs. Gibbins was born January 22, 1920 in Idabel, Oklahoma to Charles C. Barrett, Sr. and Viola Bain Barrett. She graduated from Amarillo High School in 1939. She married J. Clyde Gibbins in August, 1940 in Amarillo. He preceded her in death on October 4, 2000 after 60 years of marriage. Mrs. Gibbins retired in 1981 from Southwestern Bell Telephone Company after 33 years of service. Clyde and Georgene were faithful members for 60 years of First Assembly of God Church, helping to build the facilities at NE 8th and Pierce on Amarillo Boulevard and 6101 Bell Street. She was currently a member of Family Worship Center. She was also a member of the Telephone Company Pioneers. Georgene resided at Ware Memorial Living Center. The family wishes to express their deepest appreciation to the staff of Cherry II and Kathy, Jasmine, Velma, and Jill in Transportation. You all have been awesome and Mother loved you dearly. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Clyde, in-laws Joe and Susie Gibbins, and brother Frank Barrett. Survivors include a daughter, Nancy Jo Parker and husband Don of Amarillo; a son, Donald Clyde Gibbins and wife Jerre Lee of Amarillo; a sister, Charlene Jones of Lubbock; a brother, Charles C. Barrett, Jr.; four grandchildren, Russell Parker, Deborah Hornsby, Benjamin Gibbins all of Amarillo and Jennifer Gibbins of Seattle, Washington; three great-grandchildren, Kelsey Parker, Alicia Hornsby and Zachary Parker; two great-great-grandsons, Kelton and Cordyen Parker; an aunt, Vada Hall of Amarillo; As well as numerous nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to Olivia’s Angels BSA Hospice, P.O. Box 950, Amarillo 79105 or Family Worship Center, PO Box 8940, Amarillo 79114. The family will receive visitations Sunday afternoon at Schooler Funeral Home from 2:00 – 4:00pm.
