Georgia Lee Wilson, 91, of Claude passed away Sunday, May 26, 2013. Funeral services will be 2 p.m., Wednesday, May 29 in the First Baptist Church of Claude, TX with Pastors Dick Gravly and Dr. Delbert Serratt officiating. Burial will follow in Claude Cemetery by Schooler Funeral Directors of Claude.
Georgia was born the seventh of eight children August 14, 1921 to Samuel Knox Bonifield and Cora Ann Ferguson Bonifield in Wilson, OK. She attended schools in Oklahoma, Claude and graduated High School in Norman, OK. She attended Oklahoma City College and Business College in New Orleans, LA. Georgia was employed at Phillips Petroleum in Borger.
She married Ben G. Wilson in Claude in 1954, celebrating their 58th wedding anniversary last November. Together, they raised three children and operated a family farm and ranch in Armstrong and Randall counties. Theirs was a life partnership, sharing in everything. Ben would often state that much of his success in life was due to his partnership with Georgia. Her life was devoted to her husband, family and church family, especially the Searchers Sunday School Class at First Baptist Church in Claude. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and care-giver to many family members, who relied on her for advice during difficult times.
She was preceded in death by husband Ben, her parents, sisters Nettie Waggoner and Billie Harvey and brothers Elmo Bonifield, Dyer Bonifield, Clell Bonifield, Knox Bonfield and Murray Bonifield. Georgia is survived by daughter Cindy Wilson of Amarillo, son Scot Wilson and wife Linda of Claude and son Ross Wilson and wife Melody of Canyon. She is also survived by grandchildren Heath Wilson and wife Shannon of Canyon, Ryan Wilson of Amarillo, Jessica Montgomery and husband Will of Claude, Shawna Strain and husband Dylan of Canyon and Nick Wilson of Claude, seven great grandchildren and one on the way, sister-in-laws Virginia Bonified of Canyon and Jackie Wilson of Amarillo, brother-in-law Gene McMaster of Waco and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to thank special care givers Georgia Foster, Lupe Martinez, Gloria Garcia and BSA Hospice.
The family will receive visitors at Schooler Funeral Chapel in Claude from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, May 28. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to BSA Hospice or First Baptist Church of Claude.
