Gerald “Jerry” Quinto Sr., age 82 of Amarillo, died peacefully at home surrounded by his family, on October 9, 2014.
Rosary will be said at 6:00 PM Sunday, October 12th at Schooler Funeral Home, Brentwood Chapel.
Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 2:00 PM on Monday October 13th at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church. The Rev. John Valdez and Rev. Daniel Dreher will celebrate. Services are entrusted to Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 South Georgia.
Jerry was born on October 12, 1931 in Connellsville, PA to Michele Quinto and Marie Marrocco Quinto. He was raised in Connellsville and after graduating Connellsville High School he attended Baltimore School of Hair Design.
Jerry married Lucille Lucia in January 1955 at St. Rosala’s Church in Pittsburgh, PA. They celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary this year. In 1955 Jerry along with his wife opened a beauty salon in Pittsburgh where they worked side by side for twenty five years. He moved his family to Amarillo in 1978 to begin a new career selling insurance for NY Life. In March of 1980 he and his wife became co-owners of Creative Travel of Amarillo.
He was a founding member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, where he was involved in church activities as an usher and lector. He enjoyed fishing, gardening and spending time with his family. Jerry was a good, kind man who cherished his family and friends. He will be deeply missed by all.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother John and a sister Dora Griffiths and a great grandchild Noah John.
Survivors include his wife; two sons Anthony Quinto and wife Kathy of Sugarland, Jerry Quinto Jr. and wife Jacki of Amarillo; a daughter Lisa Quinto of Sterling, VA; a sister Beatrice Moore of Naples, FL.; seven grandchildren Nicole Talley and husband Paul of Birmingham, AL, John Austin Nite and wife Kaleena Angela Brown and husband Stephen all of Amarillo; Michael Quinto of Sugarland, Christopher Quinto and wife Courtney of Huntington, Kristina Crowder and husband Michael of Ashburn, VA, , Joseph Quinto of Amarillo, and eight great grandchildren, Maddox and Caroline Nite, Carmen and Conner Brown, Claire Quinto, Bryson Harlie and Everett Quinto; and many nieces and nephews.
