Gerald Don "Boston" Blackburn, age 75 of Amarillo passed away on May 23, 2023 in Amarillo.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, May 28, 2023 at 2pm in the Schooler Funeral Home Brentwood Chapel, 4100 S. Georgia with Pastor Dale Moreland presiding.
Boston was born on March 4, 1948 in Hereford to his parents Arthur and Roberta Blackburn.
He proudly served in the US Army from 1968 to 1970. He was in Vietnam and would tell all the kids stories about being there. He was a very Proud man and loved that he served his country. He received the Certificate of Nomination for honorable services.
Boston worked as a Diesel Mechanic at Stewart & Stevenson for many years. One of his proudest accomplishments was when he was able to open his own business Doctor Detroit early in his career.
Boston was always joking and he always had a story to tell. He adored his family and was a very proud Papa. He enjoyed spending time tinkering/working on his Harley, truck and helping others. He loved riding his Harley and having the wind in his face, it was his therapy. He cherished time spent with family. Boston raised six kids that are his but that's not including the neighborhood kids that were always at the house. He was an amazing father, but his true calling was being a "Grandpa or Papa" he loves his grand babies and great grand babies so much he would do anything for any of us, but he spoiled those babies so much they are his pride and joy.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his brother Butch, and one of his closest friends that is his brother Kelly Hutto.
Boston is survived by his children two daughters: Tiffany Blackburn and husband Chad Scott, Dakota Fallwell and husband Jason; four sons, Todd Blackburn and wife Naomi, Aaron Godwin and wife Jana, James Godwin and wife Courtney, and Matthew Godwin and wife Erin; a sister Linda Blackburn; best friends Virgil Thompson and wife Tammy, Joe Warren and wife Debbie; 13 grandchildren, Robert, Zachary, Marrisa, Alanna, Logan, London, Leah, Claire, Carter, Eli, Henson, Bella, and Kai and eighteen great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive guest after the memorial service at 4321 S Jackson Amarillo Tx 79110
