Germaine T. Connelly, 96, of Amarillo died Friday, February 28, 2014.
Rosary will be held 6:30 P.M. Sunday March 2, 2014 at Schooler Funeral Home, Brentwood Chapel. Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, March 3, 2014 at St. Hyacinth’s Catholic Church with Rev. James Schmitmeyer as celebrant. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St.
Germaine was born October 2, 1917 to Gottfried and Anna Binzegger in Nazareth, Texas. She married Mike L. Connelly on February 8th, 1941 in Amarillo, Texas. He preceded her in death in 1960.
Grandma was affectionately known as “Grandma Grape” before the grandchildren realized it was “Grandma Great”. Grandma devoted her life to her whole family.
Things remembered: watermelon seeds, fireworks, Thanksgiving feast, catching a softball, Skip-Bo, perfect toast and eggs, and roasting your legs on an open flame.
We are all so blessed to have had this amazing Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother and Great Great Grandmother in our lives. She, along with her memories will continue to live in within us. She will forever be in our hearts and minds.
Survivors include 7 children, Carolyn Lockwood of Amarillo; Robert Connelly and wife Cynthia of Eustace, Texas; Anita Sims and husband Steve of Hedley, Texas; Linda Bingham and husband Butch of Amarillo; Michael Connelly and wife Judy of Amarillo; Mary Robinson and husband Rex of Lewisville, Texas and Brenda Bell and husband Don of Conroe, Texas. She leaves behind 27 Grandchildren, 36 Great Grandchildren and 4 Great Great Grandchildren
