A funeral service will be held 11:00 A.M. Monday June 13, 2011 in Schooler Funeral Home, Brentwood Chapel with Rev. John Birdwell retired pastor of Central Church of Christ officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St.
The family will receive friends Sunday June 12, 2011 from 4 to 5 P.M. at the funeral home.
Gertrude McMillen Rice, born July 12 1919 in Imperial, Pennsylvania passed away in her adopted home of Amarillo, Texas on June 9, 2011. "Gertie" was a caring, generous, loving wife and mother who blessed her family, friends and community during her lifetime. We will all miss her.
She was preceded in death by her husband Herman Rice, daughter Connie Elaine Rice Gray and son James David Rice, as well as her parents Tom and Rose McMillen, and parents-in-law Nelson J Rice and Anna Cleveland Rice.
Survivors include daughter,"Petie" Judson and husband Alan Judson, son, John Rice and
Wife, Ronna Rice; granddaughters, Kelly Elaine Gray Miller, Victoria Judson Blumhagen,
Valerie Judson Cochran and Virginia "Gina" Judson; nine great grandchildren, three great grandsons and several nephews.
Family suggest memorial be made to the Salvation Army, 400 S. Harrison, Amarillo, TX 79101; and BSA Hospice P.O. Box 950, Amarillo, TX 79176.
