Ginger L. Jones

Ginger Louise Smith Jones, 82, of Amarillo died June 3, 2019.

Graveside service will be at 2:00 p.m., Monday, June 10, 2019 in Llano Cemetery. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home.

Ginger was born July 7, 1936 to Alfred and Corene Smith. She graduated from the Registered Nurse program at Northwest Texas Hospital School of Nursing in 1958. Ginger then began her career as a surgical nurse at NWTH. Her skills were quickly recognized by Dr. Walter Watkins, who hired her away from NWTH where she worked as his office nurse and manager for forty years.

Her avocations include tending the yard, flowers, and especially her roses.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; and sister, Sara Jo Graham of Ohio.

Ginger is survived by sons, Michael, Mark and wife, Susan of Amarillo, TX; sister, Jeannette Benson and husband Tony of Valley View, TX; brother, Pat Smith and wife Debra of Dawn, TX; numerous nieces and nephews; and high school friend, Bill Carmichael.
