Glennda Norman, 70, of Amarillo died September 11, 2020.
Private Family Services will be held at Lifeway Fellowship Baptist Church with Rev. Randy Davis officiating. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home 4100 S. Georgia St.
Glennda was born June 27, 1950 in Lubbock, TX to Tom and Henrietta Jones. She was the oldest of five children and the only girl. Glennda always enjoyed taking care of her younger brothers. She graduated from Palo Duro High School in 1968, and in December of 1968 she married the love of her life, Ronnie Norman. They had two beautiful children, Todd and Tammy. The family took many vacations together and went to Las Vegas many times. Glennda was lucky enough to win a 3-wheeler with her last three nickels on one trip. They loaded it in the car with the front wheel hanging out of the trunk and brought it home. She was well known for her wonderful cooking skills and she watched many cooking shows. She loved the Dallas Cowboys, Kenny Rogers and playing cards with her parents and husband. She enjoyed going to plays and the symphony
Glennda worked for GSM for 21 years and her grandchildren remember visiting her there, where she would give them coins to buy M&M’s from the candy machine. They also fondly remember her telling them stories about their dad and how he was always getting into trouble. She had the tradition of buying her oldest granddaughters the same gifts every year for Christmas, it was always the Holiday Barbie for one and a teapot for the other. Glennda loved supporting her grandchildren in every step of life; she attended recitals, choir concerts and many other events. In later years, she learned how to use Facebook so she could stay up with them. She always made sure to leave sweet loving comments on their post and photos to let them know she was there. She was the glue that held the family together.
Glennda was preceded in death by her husband, Ronnie; mother, Henrietta Chavez; father, Tom Jones; and a brother Gary.
She is survived by her daughter, Tammy Rice; son, Todd Norman and wife, Angel all of Amarillo; three brothers, Cecil Jones of Boerne, TX and Jimmy Jones and Donnie Jones both of Amarillo; and five grandchildren, Todd Daniel, Mitch, Julie and husband David, Ashley and Delaynah.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to American Cancer Society, 3915 Bell St. Amarillo, TX 79109.
