Gloria Scarbrough, 80 of Amarillo, Texas, died Thursday, April 4, 2013.
Funeral services will be held 3:00 Monday, April 8 at Brentwood Chapel in Schooler Funeral Home with Robby Barrett of First Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia.
Gloria was born February 4, 1933, in San Antonio, Texas to Thomas and Glendora Dean. She married Rev. Harold Scarbrough on September 2, 1952.
For 56 years, Gloria was a devoted Baptist minister’s and missionary’s wife and traveled around the world doing God’s work with her husband. However, Gloria’s pride and joy was her family. She was a quiet woman with a huge amount of pride in those she loved. Every situation in life, good or bad, required a celebration. She firmly believed that any problem could be solved with a lot of prayer, a bowl of strawberries with whipped cream, and a cup of coffee. No matter what they had done, her grand babies could always be assured that Grammy would be on their side. She truly lived her life to serve the Lord and her family.
Gloria is preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Harold Scarbrough; her parents; and a sister, Joyce Nutt.
Survivors include three daughters, Connie Yarbrough and husband Rodney, Lydia Scarbrough, and Della Baack and husband Bob; a son, Harold Scarbrough II and wife Tammy; six grandchildren, and ten great grandchildren.
The family suggests memorials to Hope Welcome Center, 9400 E. Amarillo Blvd., Amarillo, TX 79108.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, April 7, from 3:00-4:00 p.m.
