Gloria I (Perry) Williams

Gloria I Williams, age 90, of Amarillo, entered Heaven on May 8, 2023.

A rosary service will be held at Schooler Funeral Home on Thursday, May 11, 2023, at 6:00 PM.

The funeral mass will be on Friday, March 12, 2023, at 11:00 AM at St. Mary’s Cathedral.  Celebrant will be Rev. Anthony Neusch.  Interment will follow at Llano Cemetery.

Gloria was born on December 14, 1932, in Guyana, South America, to her parents, Francis and Philomena Perry.  In 1958 she immigrated to Brooklyn, New York.  In 1960 she married Augustine Williams. The couple shared fifty-two years of marriage before his death in 2012.

The couple moved from New York to Texas in 1978 in hopes of providing a better opportunity for their children.  They wanted them to have every opportunity to succeed and lead very successful lives.

Gloria loved to work with children and had the heart to do so; for many years taught at the Montessori Day School.  She was extremely proud of Loretta’s military career and of Roberts’s professional successes. Her children were her pride and joy, that is, until her grandchildren came along. Gloria was a great wife, mother, and grandmother. She was selfless in caring for her family; they were her life. Her presence will be missed, but her love will live on forever in the hearts of those who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Augustine; three brothers, Frank, Earl, and Edward Perry; and by one sister, Jean Cook.

Gloria is survived by her daughter Loretta Howerton of Corona, California; her son Robert Williams and his wife Kerri of Amarillo; and by her three amazing grandchildren, Jordan and Kaylea Williams, and Jasmine Howerton.
