Gwendolyn Hailey, 95, of Amarillo died Tuesday, August 6, 2013.
Services will be at 10 A.M. Friday, August 9 at Memory Gardens Mausoleum Chapel, 14200 I 27, with Dr. G. A. Roach officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia.
Gwendolyn was born May 12, 1918 in Munday, Texas to Dan and Laura Kitchens Groves.
Gwendolyn retired in1996 as a registered nurse from Northwest Texas Hospital and then worked as a volunteer in the ER until she was 93. She was a dedicated worker and that was what she enjoyed. She was also a member of St. Stephen United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray L. Hailey; her son, Jerry Groves: two brothers, J. P. and Utah Groves; and two sisters, Winters Matthews and LaDean Feemster.
She is survived by her daughter, Linda Kay Hailey, of Amarillo; a daughter in law, Marcia Groves, of Minifee, California; one grandson, Gregory Groves; two great grandchildren; and several nephews and nieces and great nephews and nieces.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials to your favorite charity.
The family will receive friends at 9:00 AM, Friday, at Memory Gardens Mausoleum Chapel.
