H Toby Gilbreath

March 29, 1913 — July 26, 2010

A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Thursday July 29th at Park Place Towers Parlor , 1300 South Harrison Street, with Chaplain Jerry Bell officiating. He will be buried in Elmwood Cemetery in Abilene Texas. Arrangements by Schooler Funeral Home and Elliott Hamil Funeral Home of Abilene. Toby was born March 29, 1913 in Quitman, Texas to James and Katie Gilbreath. He was raised on a farm in Paducah, Texas in a large Christian family with nine other siblings. He married Jo Biggerstaff on September 19, 1936 in Abilene. Jo passed away July 19, 1977 after forty years of marriage.After serving in the U.S. Navy, he worked in contractor sales in various places including Beaumont, Lubbock, Amarillo and Abilene. Toby loved the Lord Jesus with all his heart, teaching Sunday school, leading men’s Bible studies at Faith City Mission, and serving as a Baptist Deacon through out his life. Toby loved people and enjoyed his close loving family. He was always able to keep a great sense of humor in all circumstances of life. The fam.ily would like to thank the staff of Ware Memorial and BSA Hospice for their loving care to our father. He is survived by daughters, Toby Jo Burkett of San Antonio, Teela Malkuch and husband George of Amarillo; son Terry Gibreath and wife Debbie of Dallas; seven grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren.  In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be made to Faith City Mission at 401 S.E. 2nd, Amarillo, TX 79101
