Hallie Jeanette Burrell, 99, of Amarillo, passed away Friday, March 4, 2016.
Memorial Services will be 10:00 AM Tuesday, March 8, 2016 at Park Place Towers Parlor, 1300 S. Harrison, with Chaplain Jerry Bell as officiant. Burial will follow at 2:00 PM Tuesday in Kelton Cemetery, Kelton, TX. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia, Amarillo.
Hallie was born February 5, 1917 in Kelton to Frank and Sue Chilton. She married Johnie Aaron Burrell in Sayre, OK on March 30, 1935. She was a resident of the Kelton Community for 62 years. Hallie taught Sunday school for 50 years. She was Worthy Matron of Shamrock OES, President of Pampa District UMW, President of the Forum Club of Shamrock, Deputy Grand Matron, OES of Texas, and Head of Vespers at Park Place Towers for 14 years. She was a member of Polk Street United Methodist Church.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Johnie; her parents, one son; two brothers; and five sisters.
Hallie is survived by two daughters, Jona Lea “Jo” Durham of City by the Sea, Texas and Sherry Ann Chapman and husband Bob of Dickinson, Texas; three grandchildren, Carrie Tamer and husband Mike of Knoxville, Tenn.; Jay Richard Durham of Aransas Pass, Texas and Spencer Brannon and wife Hailey of Dickinson, and five great grandchildren, Anna Lea, Michelle and Rebecca Tamer of Knoxville, Tenn.; Aaron Durham of Aransas Pass and Brooklyn Burrell Brannon of Dickinson.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorials be made to BSA Hospice, 600 N Tyler, Amarillo, Texas 79101 or your favorite charity.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM-7:00 PM today at the funeral home.
