Hans Robert Hansen, 88, of Midland, Texas passed away on February 27, 2021.
Hans R. Hansen was born on March 13, 1932 at the family farm north of Morland, Kansas to Mabel and Henry Hansen. He graduated from Hill City High School in 1950. Hans married Jane N. Kenyon in 1952 and graduated from The University of Kansas with a B.S. in Geology in 1954. From a young age, Hans was an avid airplane enthusiast. He took his first lessons at age 13 and finally purchased his first plan in 1978. He and Jane traveled to many destinations in the US for the next 10 years.
Hans and Jane had three sons: Jon R. Hansen, Hans Christian Hansen, and Noel W. Hansen. The family resided in Wichita Falls, Midland, and Monahans, Texas before moving to Lawrence, Kansas where Hans received his Doctor of Jurisprudence from The University of Kansas in 1966. He practiced law in Hill City, Kansas from 1966-1971. From 1972-1976, the family resided in Pampa, Texas, where Hans worked for Cabot Corporation, and then also with Cabot, lived in Houston from 1976-1979. Hans and Jane returned to Midland in 1979 where Hans worked for Hilliard Oil and Gas Corporation from 1979-1986. He finished his professional career as an oil and gas attorney in Midland from 1986-2017. Hans was also a sports enthusiast watching his boys and later grandchildren’s athletic exploits with a camera in hand.
Hans was a member of The First United Methodist Church of Midland, Texas. He was an active member and officer of the Texas Independent Producers and Royalty Owners Association for many years and the Noon Lions Club of Midland.
Hans is survived by his three sons and their wives -- Jon Hansen, Chris and Judy Hansen, and Noel and Stella Hansen; grandchildren -- Jonathan Hansen, Marci Stellman, James Hansen, Luke Hansen, Ryan Hansen, Marina Hansen, Helen Hansen, and Jesiah Hansen; plus 9 great-grandchildren and many nephews and nieces.
Hans was preceded in death by his wife, Jane N. Hansen; parents Mabel and Henry Hansen; brother, Wayne Hansen; and his sister, Patricia Hansen.
A family graveside service will be held at a date to be determined.
