Harold Don Huggins, 86, of Amarillo died May 17, 2014.
Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, May 22, 2014 in Schooler Funeral Home Brentwood Chapel with Dr. Roger Hubbard of Lake Tanglewood Community Church officiating. Interment will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 South Georgia.
Harold was born April 12, 1928 to Lester and Grace Huggins in Memphis, Tx. He graduated from Memphis High School. In 1948, he joined the United States Navy and proudly served for 4 years. While in the Navy, he was stationed in Pearl Harbor during the Korean Conflict. Upon his honorable discharge he went to work for Santa Fe Railroad in 1952. He married LaJuana Ward June 16, 1956 in Tulia. In 1959, they had their son, Randall. After 33 years, he retired from the Santa Fe Railroad in 1985. After retirement, Harold enjoyed oil painting and playing golf. He enjoyed reading about history of countries and enjoyed telling of family history to friends and family. He also enjoyed traveling. Harold was a loving friend who will be missed by many.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Aldon Huggins, and a sister Reba Byers.
Harold is survived by his wife, LaJuana, his son, Randall Huggins and wife Johanna of Frisco, his nieces, Carol Swafford. Jan Melton, Debbie Byers, and Jackie Bright, his nephews, Jerry Huggins, David Byers, and Steve Crabtree.
