Harold Myers died on Thursday, April 12, 2012, in Amarillo.
Memorial services will be held 10:00 a.m., Saturday, April 21, in Brentwood Chapel at Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home.
Harold was born on September 24, 1921 in Avon, Illinois to Mina Belle Jennings-Myers and Artie Myers. He graduated from Fairview High School and joined the Air Force in 1942. He accomplished 28 missions in Germany flying B24 bomber planes fighting in WWII and received the Distinguished Flying Cross and Air Medal. He retired from the service in 1966 and began his career at Pantex. After his retirement from Pantex in 1986, he moved to Angel Fire, NM where he lived for 17 years before moving back home to Texas.
Harold was preceded in death by his parents and grand-daughter, Jennifer Janssen.
Survived by wife of 40 years, Faye of Amarillo; brother Donald Myers and wife Dorothy of Mesa, AZ; four children: daughters Linda Tatum and husband Jerry of Amarillo; Judy Janssen and husband Jim of Florida; Kim Nuenke and husband Mike of Simsbury, CT and son Bill Fisher and wife Tracy of Longview, TX; 11 grandchildren: Christina Preece, Mike Tatum and wife Jessica, and Kim England and husband Randy all of Amarillo; Darby Janssen of Florida; Maddie, Christopher, Zachary and Grace Fisher; and Reaghan, Haleigh and Allison Nuenke; 15 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.
The family suggests memorials to Hospice Care of the Southwest, 6600 Killgore, Amarillo, TX 79106; or to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
