Harold W. “Chuck” Swindell, 82, of Amarillo, passed away on October 4, 2015.
Graveside services will be at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, October 8, 2015 at Memory Gardens with Ken Owen officiating. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 South Georgia.
Harold was born Jan 22, 1933 in Sudan, TX. to Horace and Evelyn Workman Swindell. He was in the 1951 graduating class of Amarillo High School where he served as captain of the football team. He was a “Sandie” at heart. Harold married Mary Clark on September 15, 1972 in Las Vegas, Nevada. He was a retired Captain of the USMC serving during the Korean War, the Vietnam War and the Bay of Pigs invasion. He retired in 1981 after proudly serving his country for 30 years. He was a member of the VFW, the American Legion and F.R.A..
He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Sandra Ashby, Doris Garland and Francis Baker and two brothers, Jack Swindell and Grady Swindell.
Harold is survived by his wife, Mary of Amarillo; his son, Dan Reynolds and wife, Kim of Fritch; a grandson Taylor Reynolds and a granddaughter Hallie Reynolds both of Findley, Ohio; a sister, Frankie Welch of Jacksonville, FL; sister-in-law Lee Swindell of Lubbock and many nieces and nephews whom he loved very much.
