Harry Edwin “Ed” Olomon, 79, of Houston, TX, passed away on Sunday, October 20, 2013, in Brunswick, GA.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 pm, Sunday, October 27, 2013 in Brentwood Chapel at Schooler Funeral Home with Joshua York of Trinity Baptist Church officiating. Private burial will be in Palo Duro Cemetery, Wildorado, TX at 11 am, Monday, October 28, 2013. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia.
Ed was born in Garden City, KS on December 4, 1933. He graduated from Vega High School, Vega, TX, followed by military service with the United States Navy during the Korean War, serving time primarily in Guam.
Ed married Marilyn Julia Martin on January 23, 1959; they were married 54 years.
Ed worked as a Clerk/Telegrapher for 42 years for the Rock Island Railroad which later became a part of the Southern Pacific Railroad. During this time, the family moved numerous times, living in several communities throughout Texas, Kansas and Oklahoma. His children graduated from High School in Bucklin, KS, Hooker, OK and Houston, TX. After raising their children, Ed and Marilyn spent their retirement years in Houston, TX, before moving to St. Mary’s, GA this past summer to be near family. He enjoyed fishing, the outdoors and time with family and friends. He particularly enjoyed time with his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Marilyn Olomon; two sons, Edwin Lawrence Olomon of Los Angeles, CA and Corey Lynne Olomon of Bellevue, WA; two daughters, Lanette Ellen Housman of Dodge City, KS and Julie Ann Simpson of St. Mary’s, GA; twelve grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.
Ed was preceded in death by his parents, William Edwin Olomon and Ruby Lee Olomon and one brother, James Roy Olomon.
