Hazel Elizabeth Austin Montague, 69, died Saturday July 17, 2021.
Visitation will be at 6:00 p.m., Monday, July 19, 2021 at St. John's Baptist Church, 2301 NW 14th. Funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 20, 2021 at St. John’s Baptist Church with the Rev. Jeff Daily as Eulogist. Entombment will follow in Llano Cemetery Mausoleum. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home.
Hazel Elizabeth Austin Montague, GG, was born December 3, 1951 in Amarillo, to Cleve and Florence Austin. Hazel lived in Amarillo her entire life, graduating from Amarillo High School in 1969. She soon went to work for Pantex Mason and Hanger where she retired after 39 years of service.
She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother (GG), and great grandmother, loving her God, her family and her friends with all that she was. Hazel ceaselessly gave of herself to her church and community because she loved helping others. She also enjoyed traveling and her Car Club, Classic Rollers.
She was preceded in death by her father, Cleveland Austin; her mother, Florence Austin; her sisters Barbara Garr and Ingrid Austin: and her brother Cleveland Austin Jr.
Survivors include her husband and best friend of 27 years, Jackie Montague of Amarillo: her brother, Melvin Austin of Flint, Michigan; her son Byron Graves of Fort Worth; her daughter Alicia George of Amarillo; four grandchildren, Erica Brons of Fort Worth and her husband Bradford; Jeremy Graves of Dallas and his wife Nicki; DeAndre George of Amarillo; and Dorian George of Amarillo: seven great grandchildren; as well as a many nephews, cousins and friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be donated to the Graves Education Foundation at Graveseducationfoundation.com.
