Dorothy Johnson, age 82, passed away September 29, 2011.
Funeral Services will be at 2:00 PM, on Wednesday, Oct. 5, 2011 at South Georgia Baptist Church with Rev. Bob Miller Officiating. Burial will be at Memory Gardens Cemetery. Family will receive friends, Tuesday from 6-7:30 PM at Schooler Funeral Home. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 South Georgia.
Dorothy was born October 9, 1928 to Foy and Mary Dawkins in Ashtola Texas. She attended Claude High School and Texas Tech University. She married Webster Johnson in 1951 and they were married 52 years. Dorothy was a librarian at West Texas State University and later was the Antiquities Curator for the Museum at West Texas State University.
Dorothy loved to travel with the Senior Adults and acted as organizer of their trips. She enjoyed playing “42” as often as possible. She had a passion for cooking for her loved ones and took great pleasure in feeding others. Dorothy was very active in her church and served on various committees. She will be greatly missed by her many family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Webster, and her sister Anita Betke.
Survivors include three sons, Richard Glenn Johnson and his wife, JoNell of Fort Worth, Kenneth Lynn Johnson and his wife, Jan of Portland, Texas, Jesse Don Johnson and his wife, Marie of Ringgold, Georgia; two brothers, Jesse Dawkins of Dalhart and Donnie Dawkins of Brownwood; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
