Grandmother Pattie will be dearly missed.
Mrs. Lindahl was born April 6th, 1918, in Electra, Texas, the third child of the carpenter and church builder Thomas Keller and his wife Cecilia. She graduated from Groom High School and married a Lutheran, John “Lindy” Lindahl on February 21st, 1942, in Los Angeles, CA in the rectory of St. Sebastian Catholic Church. Some months after their wedding a pregnant Mrs. Lindahl was left standing on the train platform in scenic Needles, CA, having been delayed in getting ice cream for herself and Lindy. An astute airman pulled the emergency stop cord and she was fortunately able to rejoin her husband.
Mrs. Lindahl was affectionately referred to, by countless people across several states who had no relation to her, as “Grandmother Pattie”. An accomplished seamstress, she also enjoyed oil painting, her St. Cecilia Altar Society, and baking. She had a great fondness for birds, wild flowers, and candied orange slices. Her love for her grandchildren found her in such varied settings as motorcycle races, Lacrosse tournaments, computer animation, flying airplanes, and fishing boats. She was a member of St. Mary’s Parish in Amarillo, TX since 1952. Her only regret is never having visited coastal Maine.
Mrs. Lindahl was preceded in death by her husband whom she loved dearly; five siblings; her grandson, Patrick Keating and her great-grandson, Jonathan Sloan. She is survived by her children, Dr. John Lindahl, of Amarillo, TX; Ceci Keating (Mike) of Colorado Springs, CO; Martha Sue Harbin (Ernest) of Houston, TX; Trish Cangelosi (Tommy) of Houston, Texas; and Tom Lindahl of Amarillo. TX. Her two sons and three daughters gave her eleven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren, all of whom she adored.
In lieu of flowers, please make gifts in Mrs. Lindahl’s name to Disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ, P.O. Box 64, Prayer Town, Tx. 79010.
