Helen Elizabeth Rubin

Helen Rubin, 92, of Amarillo died Thursday, April 10, 2014.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Monday, April 14 , 2014 at Schooler Funeral Home Brentwood Chapel with Dr. Roger Hubbard of Lake Tanglewood Community Church  officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 South Georgia.

Helen was born September 2, 1921 in Canadian to George and Luella Ficke. She was a resident of Lake Tanglewood for 33 years and was a Registered nurse for 39 years, working at the V. A. and Northwest Hospital.  It can be said that she was a very punctual person.  She was also a Dallas Cowboy fan.  Helen loved to fish, garden, cook and bake; in fact, she was known to take pies, cakes, and cookies to her friends.  After the death of her husband, she also volunteered at BSA Hospice for about 10 years.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Mannie Rubin; one sister, Margaret Lytle; two brothers, Charles and George Ficke; and one sister-in-law, Alice Ficke.

Survivors include her daughter, Gail Buchanan and husband, Gene; her son, Byron Forbes, all of Amarillo; her stepson, Mike Rubin; her stepdaughter, Paula Eilbott and husband, Lee, all of Dallas; 5 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials be made to BSA Hospice, 600 N. Tyler St, Amarillo, Tx. 79107 or Lake Tanglewood Community Church, 106 Tanglewood Dr #B, Amarillo, Tx. 79118.

Visitation will be from 2-4:00 p.m., Sunday, April 13, 2014 at the funeral home.
