Henry Augusta Dowell

Henry “Buddy” Dowell age 78 of Amarillo died Tuesday July 26, 2011.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Friday July 29, 2011 in Schooler Funeral Home, Brentwood Chapel with Monsignor Joseph Tash of St. Thomas the Apostle Church officiating. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St.
Visitation will be from 10:00 to 11:00 AM. Friday, before the service.
Buddy Dowell was born September 2, 1932, in Rockwall to Homer and Esta Mae
Dowell. He graduated from Rockwall High in 1949. He moved to Amarillo in
1951 and was employed by the Santa Fe Railroad where he worked for the next
37 years as Civil Engineer. Upon retirement for the next 16 years he had a booth at the Old ICX.. He "loved bowling and playing card games. He married Phyllis Gallatin Dowell on October 12, 2001 at St. Thomas the Apostle Church in Amarillo.
Buddy is survived by his wife, Phyllis Dowell; son, Randy and his wife, Cindy; a daughter, Starla and her husband, Marlin; a grandson, Andy and his wife, Keta; three aunts all in Rockwall, Dot Lillard, Lillian Jacobs, and Gussie and her husband, O.E; nieces, Carolann and Carlette, their husbands, and families, and his brother-in-law, Dan Vaughn and his family.
He is preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters, Carlaine Ridley and Carolyn Vaughn.
In lieu of flowers it is requested that a donation go to your favorite charity.
