Hank was born June 20, 1935 to Henry L. and Katie Scheffe in Windthorst, Texas. He graduated from Subiaco Academy and Abbey in Arkansas before entering the US Army, where he served in Germany.
After his service, Hank married Francie Veitenheimer. Together they raised five children.
Hank fought a valiant battle against cancer that began in 1979, but about two years ago he was diagnosed with Esophageal Cancer. Despite the expert care and treatment he received at MD Anderson, his final victory was to be awarded to him in heaven. The family would like to express their gratitude to the Angels of BSA Hospice.
Hank was a member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Canyon and was a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Earl Scheffe, a grandson Clint Adams and a great grandson, Tyler Adams.
Hank is lovingly survived by his wife of 54 years Francie; two daughters, Becky Adams and her husband Cliff, and Cathy Phelan and her husband Terry all of Amarillo; three sons, Matt Scheffe and his wife Lisa of The Woodlands, Texas, Doug Scheffe and his wife Susan of Amarillo, and Scott Scheffe and his wife Elanie of Colleyville, Texas; four sisters, Mildred Koetter, Gladys Wolf, Marie Veitenheimer all of Windthorst, Texas and Catherine Carlton of Vernon; three brothers, Clyde Scheffe of Marienthal, Kansas, Bernard Scheffe and Bob Scheffe of Windthorst, Texas; twelve grandchildren, JR, Andy, Rob, Lori, Alicia, Megan, Nathan, Sloane, Garreth, Alex, Blake and Haley; and eleven great grandchildren.
